Discussion:
Furnace keeps re-igniting

I have a 5th with a Suburban SF-30F furnace that recently began reigniting
itself every 4 seconds. The sound is the familiar WOOSH whenever something
propane ignites.

I get a normal amount of heat from the furnace, and the range and water heater
work just fine. The sound gets very annoying.

Is there something that needs to be cleaned or adjusted?

Thanks.

Yes, I'd say cleaning. For some reason the furnace flame keeps going out.

I would guess it is a circuit board or sensor problem. Sequence is for
the fan to start, sail switch engages, gas valve opens, igniter fires,
heat sensor verifies flame is lit.

If the heat sensor does not detect the flame the gas valve closes.
Then the sequence repeats. I thought that would only happen a few times
and it would quit. The fan would continue running. If your furnace
allows repeated tries it could be the heat sensor is not working.

Check for proper air flow through the return air duct and the high
limit switch which is mounted to the heat exchanger in the air path.
I had this same problem and turned out to be a high limit switch that
was dropping out a too low a temp. Replacing the $5 switch fixed the
trouble.
